SSD – Solid State Drive

SSD refers to a Solid State Drive type of hardware for data storage in a dedicated server. SSD has an advantage over SATA hard drives because SSD drives do not have any moving parts so technically SSD drives are more efficient and should last longer than SATA drives. SSD drives do not last forever and sometimes do wear out or stop working. No matter what type of hard drive that you choose to use for your data storage it is recommended that you consider a RAID configuration, and always regularly backup your data to a separate hard drive.
