The central administration authority for the .eu domain name is a group of representatives from a group of European nations, called EURid. The .eu domain name extension became available in late 2005. In order to register a .eu domain name you have to be a European-based person, company, or organization.
After Brexit, residents of the UK were no longer eligible to register of renew a .eu domain name.
